2022 was a big year for the Gilbert Family Foundation. We doubled down on our mission to accelerate a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF) by launching the Brain Tumor Initiative, while expanding upon our Gene Therapy Initiative and Vision Restoration Initiative. We held multiple research convenings, the first in-person gatherings for our researchers since the COVID-19 pandemic, where experts revealed findings that will change the course of how we approach this complex disease.

At the same time, we continued to execute on our 10-year, $500M joint commitment to Detroit. In partnership with the Rocket Community Fund, this commitment is laser focused on build access to opportunity and equity for residents in our home community. So far, the impact of these programs has been phenomenal. The Detroit Tax Relief Fund and Detroit Eviction Defense Fund have helped 12,000 families stay in their homes. The launch of Venture 313 has created a new platform to support Detroit founders at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey. The Thriving Neighborhoods Fund has invested $500,000 into grassroots organizations to elevate Detroit neighborhoods. And these are just a few of the programs and partnerships we’ve been able to stand up in the past year.

Today, the Gilbert Family Foundation is excited to present our first-ever annual impact report, highlighting the milestones we’re reached and the impact we’ve made alongside our partners in 2022. Click the tile below to access the report.

We’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, but we know the journey is just beginning. Thank you for taking the time to read about our progress!
